As mentioned in a previous post, I recently received some Born Pretty Store products to review, and this was among them. I couldn't quite contain my excitement when I saw that they had space-themed decals, as you might be able to imagine if you've been here for a while.
I didn't receive any sort of compensation to talk about these five products, however the products themselves were provided to me for free. None of the links included in this post are affiliate links. If you have any questions pertaining to the topic of transparency and PR on my blog I would be happy to answer them, just leave a comment or contact me via email (see the "Impressum" tab on the blog, you can find the address there).
Zodiac Water Decals Constellations Pattern
Constellations, stars... need I say more?
Because I thought it would look great as background, I started off with a very easy galaxy mani. For that I applied a black base and, using something akin to the dry brush method, added a bit of all six of the El Corazón Universe collection polishes, which are multichrome holographics: Andromeda Nebula, The Pleiades, Orion Trapezium cluster, Omega Centauri, Evening Venus and Virgo Stellar Stream. The outcome was quite beautiful in my opinion:
The process of using water decals is always the same: Remove covering foil (if you remember to do so right at the start, which I never seem to do), cut out desired bits of the decal, stick them into water, apply to nail. These were easy to handle, in principle, anyway; since I'm still quite inexperienced with water decals, I had a bit of a steep learning curve when composing this design. Here's what I came up with in the end - though you've actually already seen it above. Since I'm a Capricorn, I tried to use mostly what I think are the corresponding symbols for this sign.
I think the multichrome aspect of the base polishes makes for an interesting background. Anyway, the two constellations seem to be random and I'm not sure they really exist. Come to think of it, the symbol for Capricorn might be mirrored; I'm not sure, though, I'm really not that great with astrology.
As you can see (mostly in the last picture), the bigger decal bit on my pinky finger is smudged, which happened when I applied my final top coat. I had too little polish on the brush, causing it to drag over the decal and thus smearing it all over the place. I learned my lesson immediately and made sure to load up the brush properly for the other nails, which solved the problem.
What do you think of this? In hindsight, I think I used too many of the constellation and star decals, making the nails look a bit overloaded. I just couldn't stop myself! And I have to say I'm pretty proud of my super easy galaxy nails.
