essence "Come to Town" - The Most Wonderful Tree over Rival de Loop - 231, mattefied and shiny (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hi guys!

Today I have an appropriately festive combo for you. Lena asked for fir green, and since I played around with some polishes a while back, I had this sitting in my blog folder just waiting for an occasion to be shown!

I applied two coats of 231 and then covered it with the lametta topper, as essence calls it. The glitter to base-ratio is great, so one coat easily gave me the sparkle I wanted. And since I love mattefied glitters, of course I had to try this with a matte top coat! But wait, I have another picture for you as well...

Look, all shiny and sparkly! This is actually not what I'll be wearing tonight - to be honest, I can't come up with something I want to wear! If you have any suggestions or would like to share what you'll be wearing/are wearing today, definitely leave a comment, I'd love to read them!

Rival de Loop "Glamour Nail Collection" - cosmo gold over misslyn "The Show Must Go On" - come in, one and all (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

Today's post is a bit of a double whammy for the theme of gold! The title is horrendously long already, so let's dive right in...

I lay down two or three coats of "come in, one and all" and then covered it with "cosmo gold", which actually looks more bronzey compared to how pale the base color is. I'm not sure if I topcoated it - this was taken weeks back already, sorry!

Kaleidoscope by El Corazón - At A Carnival 11 (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

This week's theme is light red, and I have a special (and very new to my stash) candidate for your viewing pleasure.

Two coats with top coat. It's still sheer, but that's probably how it's supposed to be. I quite like it, how about you?

P2 - royal love (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

I'm squeezing in my submission for taupe quickly here, so let's see it!

Two coats with top coat here. Lovely color, don't you think? As much as I love my glitter and BOOM colors, I just have a soft spot for these grey-ish and more elegant sort of colors as well.

essence "good girl BAD GIRL" - Once I Was An Angel (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

This week we're looking at magenta. I'm not sure I've hit the nail - not only not on the head, but at all. Anyway, here we go!

I thought this was a crackling polish, but turns out, it's actually meant to be a leather finish. Essence isn't too great with this type of polish, so after two coats the texture is mostly lost. No top coat here, of course.

Rival de Loop Young - night fever (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

This week we (or at least I am) are out to prove that black nail polish doesn't have to be just plain creme (not that that's not awesome). Here we go!

This is two coats. No top coat, since it is a sand polish. No, I still haven't got enough of these. If it placates you in any way, I'm sorry. I love the bits of colorful glitter in there, it makes it fun. And weirdly enough it kinda reminds me of Christmas. Let's not examine that too closely...

Barry M - Key Lime (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

Just before another week of my favorite series is over, I'm getting my submission for light green in.

Two coats and top coat here. You can make this a one-coater if you leave more polish on your brush!

essence - live, laugh & party and Catrice - LilacLike (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

I'm not even gonna say it, just gonna let you look...

Two coats of Catrice "LilacLike" as base. The glitter on top is from essence "live, laugh & party". This experiment took a wrong turn somewhere along the way... Anyway, the Catrice polish is super pretty. And, as you might be able to see, matt! I need to try layering "live, laugh & party" over something else. Something that will look a little less strange with it, perhaps.

essence - polka holga (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

How many times can I say that I'm super late before it gets really old? One more time, right?

Two coats and top coat here. Still some VNL, as they say, but good enough for me. This picture is with flash on, but it shows the color the most accurately out of all the photos I took. Imagine this with a tad more red to it.

misslyn "sweet summer" - ocean at midnight (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

Super late again because I forgot to post on Sunday, here we go with my pick for petrol!

Two coats with top coat here. Not terribly unique, but still pretty.

Catrice - FuchsCIA (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

Not extremely late this week, here we go for pink!

This is two coats and top coat. If you go for a thicker one, it can cover in one. The brush was atrocious, just like all of Catrice's current ones are. I'm considering writing to Cosnova more and more seriously.

Tuesday, October 14, 2014

essence "o'zapft is" - Holz Oder Michel? (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

I'm not sure if I've ever been later to post my entry for "Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!". Anyway, here's my pick for olive!

Two coats plus top coat. One thicker coat would also give satisfactory coverage I think.

Catrice "Luxury Lacquers" - Glitter Me If You Can (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

If you also blog, let me ask you a question: Do you also have those photos you took what seems like ages ago kicking around in some folder or other? You intended to post them in a timely fashion, but somehow just never got around to it and then it seemed too late for anyone to still care... Yeah, well, here is one of those photos from me.

I think that must've been two or three coats, and top coat, too, I believe. This whole line wasn't amazing where coverage is concerned. I feel like the new line is better in that department. Oh, by the way, this is supposed to be my post for copper.

models own "scented" collection - Blueberry Muffin (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

Again, not many words today - we're looking at a light blue!

Two coats and top coat here. Might want to add a third coat to get rid of the slight patchiness (see pointer finger nail), or just apply more carefully ;)

Tuesday, September 23, 2014

misslyn "sweet summer" - seductive purple (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

I apologize for my continued absence. With my nails in the shape they are now, I feel really discouraged from painting them. Anyway, I don't want to miss a week of "Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!", so here we go with bordeaux!

This is two coats and top coat. It's a little jelly-ish, so it needs a little extra care and attention. I absolutely love the specks in it, though, so for me it's worth the trouble, if you will. I know it's not the classic deep, dark red that you might've been expecting, however, I think it fits quite nicely in the more purple part of the spectrum.

P2 "match it" - Italy (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hi guys!

Long time no see. I need to get this in quickly, before the next round starts, so here we go!

This is two coats and a little patching up here and there. I'm either not handling this very well or it just really is a bit of a mess. Thankfully, as usual, top coat helped smoothing out the surface.

Wednesday, September 3, 2014

Barry M - Mocha (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

For this week, Lena asked for brown. I'm not gonna reiterate my feelings about brown nail polish for the millionth time, so let's see my pick!

Pictured here are two coats and no top coat, since this is a matt. Not many words today since I'm feeling pretty bad and just wanna go back to lying on the couch snoozing - sorry!

Wednesday, August 27, 2014

China Glaze "Sea Goddess" - Teal The Tide Turns (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

This week we're checking out mint nail polishes, whoo! I feel like mint is a color a lot of people go crazy for, including me more often than not.

Two coats here, no top coat since it has a textured finish! I know the name says "teal" but I think it still falls within the mint spectrum.

essence - Luxury Secret (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

Sorry for the extended silent period on here, sometimes I just get into a bit of a rut and don't know how to get out. Anyway, we're looking at anthracite polishes this week - here's my pick!

I have two coats with top coat here. If you apply your first coat a little thicker and more diligently than I did, I think it could be a one-coater. Not really a "classic" anthracite in my opinion, since I do see a bit of a brown hue to it. As you can see from the bottle, this is pretty old already and this is the first time I've worn it!

P2 - little princess (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

Our weekly series is on again and today we're looking at all kinds of light pink polishes. Mine is a very recent purchase - in fact, I just got it yesterday!

Three coats here, plus top coat. As per usual with colors that have a lot of white in them, I need to up the coat count because otherwise the polish will look patchy and show off my ridges. I don't mind terribly, but well. My pinky could've gone with just two coats because the ridges aren't as prominent on that nail.

Wednesday, August 6, 2014

Astor "Smooth Velvet effect" - Devil In Me (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

This week's theme is navy blue! I have a bit of a special polish for this, so here we go.

Two coats, no top coat here! It dries really fast and it can happen that you drag and push the polish around. Not too fond of that, but the color is pretty.

Catrice "Metallure" limited edition - my picks

Hey guys!

I'm late today because I couldn't decide on what to post. Now I've finally decided on my picks from Catrice's latest LE, so here we go!

Metalight
Two coats with top coat. I've been looking for a rose gold polish for a little while now and I've looked at so many bottles that I'm not even sure anymore what tone exactly I'm searching for. This will show brushstrokes so just be aware of that.

Metallicious
From the bottle I had hoped this would be a little bit of an olive-toned golden something. It isn't really, but well. Covers in two coats, shown with top coat. Again, visible brushstrokes.

Metalfusion
Again, I got a different impression of this just from looking at it in the bottle. It seemed a little blue-toned, but it really isn't so much once applied. It's more of a charcoal and covers in two coats, and as usual I finished with top coat. Like its sisters, it shows brushstrokes.

There were two more colors: a red and a pink, both with shimmer. I didn't really like the shades, though.

lipsticks
I just picked all of them up because why not, right? I can always claim the packaging made me do it. I think it's really pretty. Anyway, the colors in the swatch are Metalight, Alluring Pink and Alluring Red (top to bottom). I don't know what to do with Metalight, I gotta tell you. It's brownish with pretty strongly reflective shimmer. Oh boy.

Review for Mont Bleu

Hey guys!

About middle of July Mont Bleu approached me to ask if I was interested in doing a review on some of their products. I knew the company from Lucy's Stash (one of my favorite blogs by the way!), since she has done some reviews on Mont Bleu products in the past. As per usual I was a little taken aback at first, but accepted soon enough. So to clarify: The articles I'm showing you here were sent to me for free, I did not pay for them. That, however, has no influence whatsoever on the opinions I'm expressing. Let's see the stuff, shall we?

Everything was perfectly securely wrapped up and arrived in perfect condition.

Here's an overview: A full-size glass nail file, a mini one, a pair of tweezers and a pocket mirror (hidden in the white cardboard

Some close-ups for you. First up the full-size nail file, second is the mini one and third we have the tweezers.

And here's the pocket mirror! One side is a magnifying mirror, the other one a standard.

Now for my thoughts. I was pretty impressed when I used the big file for the first time. It seemed to not be as coarse as my other two glass nail files, and thus seemed to cause less vibrations and that icky grating feeling that I absolutely hate. Still, it worked very well for taking off length and shaping. It's thinner than my two other glass files, so I can get the sides of my nails filed more easily as well, though I still prefer my metal file for that job, simply because it's very thin and I can really get in there, if you know what I mean.

The tweezers I tried out for the hairs that grow on my beauty marks first. It got some hairs out, but I felt like it wasn't precise enough to do what I wanted it to do. Next, I tried it with my eyebrows, and it worked a bit better there, but again, I felt like it wasn't precise or sharp enough to really grab the hairs well.

The pocket mirror I am now carrying with me to work, though I don't really have much occasion to use it. But you never know when a mirror could come in handy! The outside is plastic and seems quite sturdy. I just now thought "Hey, let's drop this from about the height I'd be holding it!" and... well. The little nook that keeps it shut broke off and now it won't snap shut anymore. It's not like the two sides are flapping around, though. Both the standard and the magnifying mirror are very clear once you've wiped them before initial use. The reflection gets a little distorted depending on whether you hold the mirror horizontally or vertically, but I think for checking up on your makeup or tasks like that it will be totally fine.

If you want to get any of these articles for yourself (or someone else) you should check their websites! They seem to have an international and a German one. Don't hesitate to click the links if you're interested, I don't profit from you doing it in any way :) Feel free to ask any questions you may have in the comments!

And finally, thank you, Mont Bleu, for these beautiful products.

models own "Ice Neon" collection - Luis Lemon (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

We're starting the third round of "Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!" off with a bit of a bang, since Lena asked for yellow and I have quite the one for you here.

This is three coats with top coat. As you can see, it's still not fully opaque. Definitely easier to layer it over white. I know a lot of people hate that, but I want full color and full effect, so I prefer it sometimes. And I don't really mind.

In case you're wondering: I had to file my nails down because one of them ripped. I'm quite happy with the length I could save, though!

essie "haute in the heat" collection

Hey guys!

Now that we've got some dead horses out of the way, let's look at something a little fresher. Sorry if that sounds weird in a sentence together. Let's get into it, shall we?

urban jungle
We have three coats with top coat here. I need three coats quite often with polishes that have a lot of white in them, because I find it hard to get them smooth in two coats only.

fierce, no fear
While this is not typically my color, I kind of like it! Two coats were perfectly opaque; again, I used top coat.

roarrrrange
This is another three-coater (plus top coat). I feel like it's a little jelly-like in formula, so I guess it's more of a crelly than a classic creme. It's bright, but not too terrible on me, I think. I bet Dutchies would love this.

strut your stuff
A gorgeous, gorgeous color. It also needs three coats, but oh my, do I not care. Shown here with top coat. I would say the formula is about the same as that of "roarrrrange".

ruffles & feathers
I only needed two coats here, plus top coat. I quite like the color, but I'm not too into it.

haute in the heat
Again, two coats for full opacity. Again, I used top coat. By now you guys probably know I use top coat every single time, except with special finishes. Anyway, I love this bright color! It has a bit of a berry tone to it as well, which for me makes it a little more special than your standard bright pink.

Beating some dead Horses (aka products you've seen a million times already)

Hey guys!

Since I know the stuff I'm showing you today has already been talked about at large, I thought I'd just quickly throw them all together in one post with a few words on all of them...

Catrice "It Pieces" LE
Beautifying Lip Smoother
I got the shade "Cake Pop". It's a really light peachy color with some sparkle, comes off as almost nothing on my lips. I'm not blown away but I don't hate it. If you're trying to remember what this reminds you of, it's probably the Clarins "Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector".
Luxury Lacquers

It's Showtime

Let's Get Lost In Vegas

Lost'N Roses

Plum Fiction

My Big Green Wedding

These are in the same vein as the LE colors from a while back, I think "It's Showtime" might actually be exactly the same as "BRIGHTSmaid" - I haven't tested that theory, though. As far as I remember I used two coats for all of these, and no top coat.

labello Lip Butter in Blueberry Blush
A new flavor of the blogosphere's current hype product! For Americans this is a bit old news already, I believe, since the lip butters (marketed by Nivea in the States) have been out over there for a while already. For us here in Germany they're still fairly new, though. In Austria, there is a fifth flavor/scent that came out with this one: Coconut. I'm a little jelly, not gonna lie. Anyway, this does smell sort of blueberry-ish, though not necessarily all too natural. I haven't used it yet, but I suppose it isn't any different from "Raspberry Rosé" or "Vanilla & Macadamia", both of which I have in use at the moment.

Maybelline "Acid Wash" LE

Lilac Rebel

Mint-Acid-Ittude

Ripped-Tide

Bleached Blue

Some more hyped products, anyone? I feel like everyone and their mom has talked about these polishes already, but here's my two cents anyway. If I remember correctly (and it's very much possible that I don't) I used two coats for these photos, plus top coat. As you can see, though, some more wouldn't have hurt. Only "Bleached Blue" has good coverage, all the others are a streaky, sheer mess. I still like them, though. I have one more complaint though: Who was the one who tried so freaking hard with the puns? Seriously, "Mint-Acid-Ittude"? What?
